At the time of booking, we will send you a confirmation with the meeting time and location. The departure will be around 7:00 am in order to arrive at the Miches dock by 9:30 am.
At the dock, breakfast will be served. After breakfast, it will be time to take to the sea for a 2-3.5 hour whale watching excursion. During some outings, the whales are playful and put on a show with their acrobatic displays right from the start. In this case, after 2 hours of observation and enjoying the beautiful spectacle, we return to port.
Sometimes, whales can be shy and it may take some more time to find a spot in the bay where you can observe them. In such cases, our provider extends the time at sea so that you can see these incredible mammals before returning to port.
Upon returning to Miches port, you'll have a lunch break at a local restaurant where you'll enjoy a delicious typical Dominican meal.
We will then take transportation again for about a 20/25-minute ride towards Montana Redonda. Once at the foot of the mountain, you'll board off-road trucks that will take you up to its summit where you can enjoy magical views of the northern coast bay of Dominican Republic. There, you can take stunning photos on swings that give an impression of flying in Dominican skies. Thrilling sensations guaranteed!
After these wonderful discoveries, we'll descend back down using off-road trucks once again. Get ready once more for magnificent photos capturing breathtaking views of lush nature.
Following this extra dose of excitement your transportation awaits at basecamp to drive you back to your hotel. The return trip is scheduled around 5:00 pm arriving back at your hotel.

I am arriving in early January, can I see the whales?
We advise you to contact us as the arrival or departure of the whales may vary depending on the year. You can safely observe them from mid-January to mid-March.
How many hours of driving does it take to get to Samana?
In reality, to get to Samana Bay, we do not embark from Samana but from Miches. The travel time is therefore much shorter and it takes 2 hours from Bayahibe, and 1 hour and 30 minutes from Punta Cana.
Do we see whales systematically?
Yes, between mid-January and mid-March. Of course, they are in their natural habitat and some days they may be less playful than others. Weather conditions also play an important role. But rest assured that the crew always does their best to ensure you see as much as possible!
Are there a lot of waves in Samana Bay?
Indeed, in the Samana Bay there can be waves reaching up to 3 meters. However, we are in communication with locals on site who keep us informed and if we have to cancel due to weather conditions, we will inform you and offer an alternative date.
Is this excursion suitable for children?
We do not recommend this excursion for children under 5 years old. The time at sea and the weather conditions can be challenging for a young child.
